HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I can't believe that it's here, 2022! Just think, 2 years ago Covid-19 was flying though the skies and becoming a "thing" - a thing that we all thought would be gone in 2021, where everything was better and back to "normal." Now here we are in 2022, with a new strain (Omicron), still wearing masks, sanitizing, quarantining, and even for some social distancing.

Two years. It doesn't seem like we have moved forward in certain aspects, does it? The world feels flat - just "eh." The pandemic has brought about so much emotional pain, fear, disappointment, and sadness. Some people feel confused, outraged, and even depressed as loved ones have gotten sick, been admitted to the hospital, and even passed away. We have become a grieving world. All of us have been touched and affected someway and somehow by this horrible, horrible, virus.

My first blog of the year and so far - it's not sounding so great is it? Woe is me. Life sucks. Yatta, Yatta, Yatta.  Are we so used to all this negativity that we have become numb to the empathetic needs of others? Sometimes it sure does feel that way. Have we succumbed to it all? Where are we right now emotionally, mentally, physically, relationally, and spiritually?

As 2022 begins, I think that it important to first reflect on these things before we prioritize our new year and decide on resolutions, and focus words. So many people each year cannot wait to close out the previous year and start new and I do agree, there is a sense of relief in starting a fresh new year; however, it we want our new year to be successful then we need to reflect on the areas from the previous year that maybe weren't so successful. We have to find the solutions to turn around the set backs we experienced in 2021.

How we choose to start our new year, will affect how our new year begins. A few weeks ago I  studied the phrase, "All's Well That Ends Well." Have you heard of this phrase before? I talked about it in my latest First & Main podcast episode.  It's actually a title to a comedy that was written by William Shakespeare.  In this comedy, a women falls in love with a man who does not love her back. She is so persistent in making this relationship work that she goes to extreme measures to make it work and it all works. All is well and the play ends. Why am I blogging about this? Well, because in life, things don't always go as we want them to. We may just have to get out of our comfort zone and take a step of faith. We may have to think outside the box and for some, this is an extreme measure.

If "All's well that ends well", then let's ponder that for a moment. How was your year?  Rate it from 1-10, 1 being awful and 10 being amazing.  How are you doing - emotionally, mentally, physically, financially, relationally, and spiritually? How's your job/career? How's your family? How are you feeling? How's your health? What are your dreams and aspirations and how far away are you from reaching them? When 2021 ended, were all these things pretty good? Were they not so good? How did your year end? If it ended well, then all is good, right? If it didn't and you have some work to do... then things probably aren't so great and this is the time to sit down and reflect on how you want to move forward so that by the end of 2022, all is well.

When we take time to reflect on the past, it helps us to move forward but in my experience, there is one more thing that helps us to move forward. It's the First and Main thing that helps us before anything else. There are two practical ways to move forward at the end of our year into a new year and I talk about both of these practical ways in my latest First and Main podcast episode, "All's Well that Ends Well." I hope that you enjoy it, feel inspired, and encouraged as you begin your new year! If you or someone you know would like additional help in forecasting your 2022, finding solutions to the set backs from 2021, or need some help navigating thoughts and ideas so that you can arrive to your destination, I would love to journey with you. When you look at life as a big roadmap, who is your co-pilot? Which avenues are you taking? What detours are you going through? Are there shortcuts and are they worth it? This is what it looks like having a life coach - having someone in the passenger seat while you drive so that you can avoid those bumps in the road, the traffic, and be the extra set of eyes to help you see the things you may not be seeing. Let me help you this new year arrive safely, efficiently, and as quickly as possible. Contact me for additional information. HAPPY NEW YEAR!
